Walking the dog on a crisp autumn day with a low slung sun raking through the trees is one of life’s great pleasures. Add a Dashing scarf thrown loosely around your neck in a devil-may-care manor and you may well find yourself positively elated.

At Dashing, we come into our own at winter. Wool is without doubt the best thing to be wearing and nothing is easier than pulling on a jumper and picking up a scarf.

It will come as no surprise that we have chosen some very jolly colours for our new season jumpers. A glorious royal blue, a vibrant orange, a moss green and a rich autumnal burgundy wool.

The light, soft lambswool jumpers are surprisingly warm and are all knitted for us in Hawick, the famous Scottish Borders area renowned for quality wool and knitting.

I’m a fan of ‘V’ necked jumpers as I often like to wear a shirt and silk scarf underneath and the shape allows everything to sit well. Many people enjoy the higher fitting crew necks and so we have decided to have both styles knitted and to also add cable designs to the crew neck. Our sizing is small for a close fit on a 38 inch chest, medium for a chest size around 40 inches and then large around a 43 inch chest and extra large for chaps with a 46 inch chest; the arms and length adjust accordingly.

For our scarf range, we still stock a few of our desirable ombre shaded Merino and cashmere scarfs and a couple of classic lambswool designs but the big interest is for our scarf range woven using recycled Cashmere yarns.

Followers of our woolly jottings will remember our trip to visit the first new shoddy machine in the country for decades and learnt with interest how it shredded up old cashmere garments and created a fibre ready to be re-spun with yarn. We have used shoddy cashmere alongside our new season colours of British wool to create a really fabulous range of scarves. The cashmere yarns in subtle neutral shades provide an elegant ground upon which the vibrant British yarns in bright green, orange, blue and mauve can really radiate. We have woven the designs with twilled herringbone structures, classic designs that everyone can relate to and the warp threads are then fringed for a traditional scarf look.
