GLOVED UP

When I was young my grandmother wouldn’t even consider leaving the house without wearing gloves and a hat but nowadays it seems that the Queen is practically the only person still keeping up sartorial standards.
However, Iāve noticed that times are changing and people are starting to wear more coverings on their extremities. This may well have something to do with bugs going around, which is one reason why gloves were originally so fashionable in previous generations.

I always like to look on the bright side of life, and if current conditions dictate that it is again fashionable to don hats and gloves then so much the better.
Britain used to have a huge glove industry and being a glover was a soughtĀ after skill. The fastidious dandy Beau Brummell used to joke that he used a different skilled glover for every finger to create the perfect pair.Ā

This season with the help of the fabulous Dorset glovers Chester Jefferies we have designed four elegant styles of gloves for you.
We have used our reflective fabric for men using our Navy Raver design, and our Red Raver for our womenswear gloves. These both feature our reflective threads woven with fine Merino wool and the gloves are made of the most lusciously soft leather and lined with cashmere.
We have also turned two of the fabrics from our current autumn collection into really exquisite gloves. TheĀ LibertineĀ designĀ is matched to a rich purple leather and our sumptuousĀ Verdant tweedĀ to a rich greenĀ leather. We have all pairs in small, medium and large sizes.

Seeking out the best British manufacturers is one of the principles of Dashing Tweeds, and for our caps we travel up to Castleford in Yorkshire, the home of the flat cap. Lawrence and Foster are fastidious cloth cap makers and we have been lucky to have them fashion caps for us since we started up.
This season we have used their very fashionable Newsboy style. This eight piece cap features a rounder shape created with octagonal slices of tweed, a longer brim and topped off with the classic tweed covered button. In Dashing fabrics these are more āPeaky Beautifulā than āPeaky Blindersā.
We do still stock other styles of caps and you can always have ones custom made in any of our fabrics.
