Dashing Tweeds has footwear to thank for its initial step-up in the world. I started Dashing Tweeds with just my personal wardrobe foremost in mind. A fashionable friend felt that the world should be informed and so spread the word via a nascent blog. Not much happened at first, but after a couple of months Converse flew over from Boston and came knocking at my door. The resulting collaboration filled my basement with hot selling shoes and helped launch Dashing Tweeds as you know it today.

As cloth designers we are always looking for skilled and original crafts people to use our tweeds in masterly ways. Quality is our top priority.

Bowhill & Elliott have been crafting shoes since 1874 and are still based in their original Norfolk home of Norwich. Before the industrial revolution moved manufacturing closer to the coal rich areas of northern England, Norwich was the centre of both wool trading and shoe making. There is still expertise in the area, and for the last 60 years Bowhill & Elliott have concentrated on making the most sublimely comfortable slippers.

The tweeds we’ve designed with Formula One driver Jacques Villeneuve are so joyous that they have driven us to creating a range of slippers.

Using each of the three designs, we’ve made a pair of soft leather soled house shoes. Bowhill & Elliott uses a centuries old technique of hand-turning the shoes so as to hide the stitching resulting in a beautifully sleek design. We worked together on a choice of trimmings which we feel adds an elegant and decorous delight to the designs. These incredibly comfortable slippers are my favourite. They are not for wandering the streets but rather for luxuriating at home.

There is also a range of harder soled slippers in which you can stroll to a soiree.

With so many possible fabric combinations and numerous sizes we thought it best if you come by and select the ones for you or a loved one. We are offering these as made to order shoes which take 4-6 weeks to make.

House slippers for £350 and outdoor soled for £400.

On Tuesday 4th November we will be hosting the Bowhill & Elliott team in our shop. They will talk about the materials used and the craft of making shoes, as well as measuring your feet and taking orders in time for Christmas.

Do come to our shop on Tuesday 4th November between 6pm – 9pm, and bring a friend or two, these are truly unique shoes and gifts for Christmas.

If you can not make the event, pop in anytime to discuss your shoe options too.

All the best,

Team Dashing
