We’ve written about wedding attire before, but with courtly nuptials in the air and a practice marriage under the belt for Meghan it’s always refreshing to reflect on what to wear again. Whilst I’m sure Prince Harry will dress traditionally in either a morning coat or in military uniform there is now a far greater range of acceptable clothing that men can choose from.
The key point in dressing for a wedding is to look and feel special as well as smart and different from the everyday. As society allows us to dress down more for work and evening events, dressing up for weddings becomes easier. There is the whole fabulous world of tailored cuts to choose from as well as a vast range of neck wear, shirts and accessories.
A good starting point is colour, ideally a groom should look well dressed, elegant and at ease. Often being seen first they set the scene and complement the bride without competing. This is of course harder to achieve if the wedding dress is to remain a surprise but we have had many couples in our store where the wife to be helped choose fabric knowing it would work well, whilst the man enjoyed fine tuning all the tailoring details.
Our made to measureis very flexible yet simple to understand. After you have found a fabric you like, our fine weight Merino woolsare especially popular at the moment, then we guide you through the whole world of tailoring details. You can choose from many styles of jackets, trousers and waistcoats as well as finding buttons and lining combinations that are unique to you. The process takes around forty minutes and then 5-6 weeks later your perfectly finished suit will appear, with any minor alterations undertaken locally within a few hours if needed.
