Dashing Tweeds’ customers so enjoyed the quality of Donegal yarns used in our last collection that we have revisited them. Our new Donegal designs harking back to our love of bold checks and have a great impact with the added interest of these textured yarns.
The signature fabrics in this collection are the Blue and Orange Overdrive designs, gloriously large scale checks in substantial soft wool. The four inch repeats in fashionable orange and teal blue against a ground of the famously flecky fibres make for fashionably bold jackets and overcoats.
For a more toned down tweed suitable for wear in the city we have created an elegantly simple check and stripe using coloured flecked Donegal yarns against a ground of fine grey Merino wool. The Square Kink and Straight Kink designs are woven with an urban environment in mind, the predominant tarmac tones blend with the streets yet the subtle colours in the Donegal yarns add a low key more playful dimension.
To cheer up a drab day the Rizzi Check can’t be beaten, teal, lilac, crimson, salmon and yellow and yarns jostle for position in this spirited check against a black merino ground, the overall effect is entertaining yet with a balance of colours that keep the designs from looking garish.
At Dashing Tweeds we have had the pleasure of collaborating with a student of Kirsty’s this season. Using the colours selected for their autumn palette, talented Joe Whitbread wove new geometric step structures over a blue grid rectangular check. The overall effect of the suiting weight fabric is to create a unique yet familiar feel cloth in a contemporary colour combination.
